Park staff are making several improvements that will enhance its habitat and amenities. They have cleared a number of pine trees to open sites for the growth of understory and hardwoods preferred by the songbirds. They have also cleared pine trees elsewhere to open a vista from the observation platform to the Bay so birders can more quickly spot raptors flying over the water. Park staff are also constructing two large shelters near the observation platform; these will provide a locale for K.E.ST.R.E.L bird demonstrations and storage of K.E.ST.R.E.L equipment. We in K.E.ST.R.E.L continue to appreciate the park's willingness to merge and balance the needs of birds and birders with those of other park users.
