Crab Pots

Made of 'poultry' or 'chicken' wire, these cages are baited with various kinds of fish and placed on the bottom in Blue Crab habitat areas of the Bay.

The yellow markers are attached to the cages and float on the surface. Each waterman has unique colors/markings so he can find his 'pots.' The pots are (usually) harvested twice a day. The waterman brings each pot to the surface, removes the captured crabs, then rebaits and returns the pot to the Bay.
