"Manila Has Surrendered"

    Demonstrate the ability to use reference sources and analyze mass media.

Suggested activities:

  1. Have students create their personal account of events depicted in the newspaper headlines (ie. story, political cartoon, comic strip, drawing, powm, role play).

  2. Have students pretend they are an American or a Filipino/Filipina in Manila and write a letter home describing events of the surrender of Manila.
