Brown Pelicans

The pelican, once endangered, has been restored to its natural levels because of pesticide restriction. Organic compounds used as pesticides taken into the food chain were bio-magnified in the fishing bird. The increased toxin caused the baby pelican's shell to be too brittle to support the mother bird.
