GROUNDSEL SHRUB
(CONSUMPTlON WEED)
The groundsel shrub is widely established throughout the Historic Triangle but is seldom noticed until late summer when the cloud-Iike blossoms appear. It grows in thickets and hedgerows but is especially prevalent along the edges of marshes and swamps. The bush, ranging in height from four to twelve feet, in the summer months has a mantle of thick-toothed !eaves that are gray-green in color. The thickly growing branches are favorite nesting places for many species of birds.
