SWAMP ROSE MALLOW
The rose or marsh mallow, a spectacular nower that blooms in the marshes and swamp borders from July to September, grows up to seven feet high and may show fifteen to twenty blossoms at once. The flowers range in color from white to deep rose, with a creamy spike protruding from the center. Bees and humming birds are greatly attracted to the showy blossoms for the easy-to-get-at nectar.
Mallows can be grown from seed gathered in the fall, or they can easily be transplanted. Unlike most wild flowers, they do well in a home garden if planted in rich soil that receives amp]e moisture.
